iAFLUI presentation

Past January 11th was the iAFLUI presentation session. iAFLUI is a project initiative held by LNEC for inflow/infiltration management which will occur in 2016-2017. 50 participants attended this meeting. These included utilities personnel as well as diverse service suppliers (e.g. equipment, consultancy).

TRUST project - IAM best practice manuals

The scope of this TRUST series of best practice manuals is the integrated planning of urban water services, focusing on Infrastructure Asset Management (IAM). IAM aims at ensuring that infrastructures are managed in such a way that sustainability of the service is ensured by maximizing service performance at a minimum cost and with acceptable risk levels, in the long term. Urban water services include water supply and wastewater and storm water management. Vol. 1 (D53.3a) introduces a global framework, key principles and concepts and the main challenges and opportunities. Vol. 2 corresponds to D52.2. and includes specific guidelines for policy- making at a national or regional level. Vol 3. and Vol. 4 focus respectively on strategic and on tactical planning at the utility level (D53.3b and c). The other two manuals (D53.3d and D53.3e) are a portfolio of rehabilitation techniques used in supply pipes and storage tanks and drainage systems.

F2 workshop

Last July 6th and 7th was the iGPI 2015 F2 workshop, in which all iGPI 2015 participants attended. For during two days participating utilities wer able to network and get support for the development of their IAM plans. This workshop was also the stage concerning the technical themes working groups frist meetings.

F2 meeting

The iGPI 2015 F2 meeting took place in LNEC, on the 11th and 12th of May. Basis-profile participants attended this meeting, were they were able to follow up on each participant F1 results, and get training and support for the following working phase (F2).

IAM in Uganda
The past April 22nd and 23rd, our colleague Helena Alegre was in Uganda lecturing a course on Infrastructure Asset Management. This course had about 50 participants, from different utilities such as: water, electricity and roads.

F1 workshop
It was held, the past 12th and 13th of March, the first iGPI 2015 workshop. All participating utilities attended this workshop. During the workshop it was possible for the participating utilities to work on their IAM plans, according to the objectives that were established to this particular project phase, having the opportunitiy to network with fellow colleagues and project partners.

F1 meeting

iGPI 2015 F1 meeting has held on the 19th and 20th of January. Participants from the base-profile atented this meeting where they were able to assess and balance F0 results, as well as receive proper training for the following F1 working phase.

F0 Meeting
Last December 2nd was the kick start meeting of the iGPI 2015 project. This meeting was attended by about 50 participants. Main objectives included the project overview and descritption and main results expected for the first phase - F0.

It's tomorrow, December 2nd (10:00-17:30), that will begin the IAM National Initiative - iGPI 2015. A plenary session will take event in presence of all participants at LNEC, in Lisbon.

Mulheim Water Award 2014
Our colleague Helena Alegre went to Germany to receive the Mulheim Water Award 2014 for the AWARE-P project and its implementation by the iGPI and PGPI projects. Congratulations to all team members and participants in these projects!

IAM awards session
Past September 24th, there was the IAM awards session, at the IWA World Water Congress and Exibition, under the AWARE-P, iGPI - National initiative for asset management and PGPI - IAM program projects. This session was promoted by LNEC and AGS, and was sponsored by ERSAR, with the session being held at their exhibition stand.This session was intended to share the awards collected at the IWA Project Innovation Awards 2014 (cat. Planning, Europe/West Asia) e Mulheim Water Award 2014, which were assigned to the AWARE-P, iGPI and PGPI projects. It implied awarding each participating utility a certificate, in which their participation and commitment to the collected awards.

AWARE-P session at IWA's 2014 World Water Congress
A 1,5 hr AWARE-P session at the upcoming IWA 2014 World Water Congress will be dedicated to the launch of the new AWARE-P Suite, and to the AWARE-P methodology and software roadmap. Wed, Sep 24, 1:30-3:00pm, Room 0.06. The session is free and open to non-delegates.

In an exceptional run that has already deserved a 2014 IWA PIA, AWARE-P has now been awarded the 2014 edition of the biennial Muelheim Water Award, recognizing "an excellent contribution to structured infrastructure asset management in water companies".

IWA World Water Congress - Invitation to participate

Yesterday, at the Congress Center of LNEC, took place the seminar LNEC-ABES/PNQS. The seminar, which was attended by the finalists of the National Sanitation Quality Award (PNQS) of the Brazilian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (ABES), aimed to demonstrate the implementation process in Portugal asset management infrastructure within the scope of iGPI-LNEC and PGPI-AGS projects. The success examples of GPI implementation programs of Águas de Coimbra (iGPI) and Águas de Barcelos (PGPI) were presented. The iGPI LNEC team acknowledges the presence of all the guests and speakers.

The World Bank delegation present at the iGPI final meeting

The final part of iGPI final meeting was attended by representatives of the Danube Water Program, a 4-year project funded by the World Bank for the countries of the Danube region. The project's methodology, tools and main outcomes were discussed in the scope of IAM planning, in order to evaluate the feasibility of applying the collaborative framework and the AWARE-P methodologies in different countries under different contexts. LNEC and the World Bank / Danube Water Program are currently discussing a collaboration that may allow the Portuguese experience to inform and support the DWP's efforts.

iGPI Final Meeting

The final meeting of the iGPI project took place in October 16. With 80 people attending the ceremony, amongst participants from the utilities and guests, this final meeting aimed at presenting the inititive's main results. The project, which involved 19 utilities and over 100 people participating actively during 18 months for IAM planning for long-term sustainability, ended up sucessfuly with 16 strategic IAM plans built by the utilities with full project participation. The LNEC-team congratulates all the participants for their presence at the meeting and for all the obtained results.

INOVA's Strategic IAM Plan published online

Another strategic infrastructure asset management plan has been published online, this time by INOVA Cantanhede, following its approval by the board of directors. The document was developed in-house in the scope of INOVA's participation in the national IAM initiative, and is available on their website.

Inframoura made available online their new Strategic Plan.The document, based on the Infrastructure Asset Management Strategic Plan developed by Inframoura in the context of their participation in iGPI, is available for download at their corporate website.

5th LESAM – Leading-Edge Strategic Asset Management 2013, 10-23 September, Sydney, Australia
The 5th edition of LESAM 2013 took place in Sydney, Australia, between the 10th and 12th of September. Researchers & academics, people from the utilities and consultants, as well as technology providers, were among the over 160 participants of the conference. This high quality of the attendees was reflected on the levels of the presentations, as well as on the discussions that followed. There was also an enthusiastic participation of young water professionals.

iGPI will be keynote at LESAM 2013 in Sydney (Sept. 10-12)
An article describing the Portuguese experience with the iGPI collaborative initiative for infrastructure asset management received the best rating of the abstracts submitted to LESAM - Leading-Edge Strategic Asset Management 2013, the 5th edition of the biannual conference of the IWA which has become the foremost international event in the field of infrastructure asset management of water services.
